The MARIUS® pattern is a Norwegian protected design from 1953. It is the most knitted pattern in Norway and is considered a Norwegian icon that tells a tale about Norwegians’ enthusiastic bond with walks in forests and mountains, being outside in majestic nature.
The designer Unn Søiland sold her knitting pattern to Sandnes Ullvarefabrikk (Sandnes Wool Factory) in 1953, but kept the production rights which are currently managed by Marius of Norway AS. The image of Marius Eriksen, Norwegian war hero and skier, adorned the first cover of the pattern back in 1954.
These days the Marius® wool clothes are made from the finest merino wool and do not itch. Merino Wool is itch free thanks to the smaller diameter of its fibers. These finer fibers compared to regular wool fibers are more bendy and flexible, so when worn directly on the skin they don't itch like regular wool. Wool is a natural product and has the ability to regulate the body’s temperature. Additionally, it transports moisture and keeps the children warm and dry.
All garments in Marius Kids' bamboo collection are made of 70% bamboo viscose and 30% organic cotton, a quality that feels extra soft and comfortable against the skin. Bamboo is commonly used as an alternative to wool, since bamboo has many of the same characteristics; It breathes and transports moisture. And especially; it's amazingly soft to the touch! Perfectly suited for sensitive child skin.
